Chad et Sophia font connaissance sur le tournage de One Tree Hill

Février 2004
Ils tombent amoureux et commencent à sortir ensemble pendant qu'ils tournent la série à Wilmington en Caroline du Nord. Leur relation est maintenue secrète jusqu'à ce que des photos du couple paraissent dans la presse américaine.

Mai 2004
Alors qu'il tourne le film "House Of Wax" en Australie, Chad demande Sophia en mariage. Il a préalablement demandé l'autorisation à ses parents. Avant de faire sa demande en mariage, Chad offre à Sophia une journée romantique où il l'emmène dans un salon de relaxation, puis l'accompagne faire du shopping, avant de l'inviter à diner. C'est en rentrant à leur hôtel que Chad fera officiellement sa demande en présentant une superbe bague qu'il a lui même dessiné.

Chad et Sophia se marient à Santa Monica

26 Septembre 2005
Le couple se sépare sans donner de raisons officielles, mais de nombreuses rumeurs prétendent que Chad a été infidèle. Sophia demande l'annulation du mariage.

Décembre 2005
Chad commence à fréquenté assidument Kenzie Dalton, une figurante de la série, âgée de 17 ans.

Avril 2006
Chad se fiance avec Kenzie Dalton. Sophia retrouve l'amour en la personne de John Foster son partenaire dans le film Stay Alive.

Janvier 2007
Le divorce de Chad et Sophia est officiellement prononcé.
